Inspection fee for the issuing of certificate of acceptability

The inspection fee for the issuing of a certificate of acceptability is now included in the city’s tariffs.

The amended City of Ekurhuleni Environmental Health Tariffs now makes provision for payment of an inspection fee for the issuing of a certificate of acceptability (COA).

A COA is a compliance certificate issued as the requirements set out in regulation R638:2018 (Regulations Governing General Hygiene Requirements for Food Premises, the Transport of Food and Related Matters).

Fees payable are stipulated on the environmental health tariffs as approved by the council in terms of its fees and tariffs schedule.

Such fees are payable at the city’s pay points upon the premises meeting the requirements for issuing a certificate of acceptability.

This is following an inspection by the city’s environmental health practitioners.

Environmental health practitioners do not collect cash payments for the COAs or any form of compensation for the services rendered.

Businesses may enquire about the COA processes or request an environmental health practitioner to visit their premises for an inspection by contacting 011 999 2970 during office hours.

Meanwhile, the environmental health services tariffs are available on the city’s website www.ekurhuleni.gov.za
