Two fatally shot during robbery at Brakpan bar

A night out at a Brakpan bar ended in horror when two patrons were fatally shot during an armed robbery.
The robbery took place at a bar along Van Dyk Road on Wednesday around 23:00 and was carried out by a gang of four men
“The four, two of whom were armed with handguns, entered the tavern and started to shoot at customers,” said Capt Pearl van Staad, spokesperson for the Brakpan SAPS.
“Two customers were fatally wounded while another was shot and taken to hospital.”
Van Staad told the Herald the robbers took about R2 000 in cash and robbed the manager of his cellphone.
They fled in a white Hyundai i20, which belongs to a customer.
Van Staad added that witnesses could not identify the language spoken by the robbers.
Cases of business robbery, double murder, attempted murder and hijacking are under investigation.
