One man was nabbed on scene, while the other evaded capture.

The plight of infrastructure vandalism continues, and the City of Ekurhuleni’s law enforcers are on high alert to bring perpetrators to book.

In the late evening of November 3, members of a security company contracted to the City pounced on criminals cutting copper cables at the Plastic City informal settlement after two men were spotted inside a trench.

One man was nabbed on the scene, while the other evaded capture.

The 25-year-old Mozambican national, staying in Plastic City, was caught with a pickaxe, a shovel, a spade, two hacksaws and a damaged 1.5m copper cable.

All exhibits and the arrested man were taken to the Brakpan Police Station and a case was opened.
