EMPD tip of the week

Open the bonnet to check if there are any oil leaks and check whether the tyres are still in good condition.

To ensure your vehicle is roadworthy before heading out on the road, the following should be checked to ensure all are in good working condition: the main beam of the vehicle’s lights, dipped beam, indicator lights, reverse lights, brake lights and hooter/audible device.

Open the bonnet to check if there are any oil leaks and check whether the tyres are still in a good condition.
Ensure there is a spare wheel, also in a good condition, along with a jack, a spanner and a warning triangle.

Also, check the windscreen for cracks that can obstruct the driver’s view, ensure the mirrors are all intact and the windshield wipers are in good working condition.

The steering wheel should not have extreme free play and the clutch, brakes and accelerator should all be in good working condition.

Verify if the disk and driver’s licence are still valid, and finally, check the fuel so that you can have a safe journey.
