CoE releases buses to assist with public transport efficiency

The City of Ekurhuleni released a statement in which they confirm that twenty-one new buses have been added to the City of Ekurhuleni’s fleet for commuters in Germiston, Boksburg and Brakpan. This is part of the City’s plan to make public transport more accessible, cost effective and efficient for commuters.

Speaking about the new fleet, MMC for Transport Planning Cllr Phelisa Nkunjana said the goal is to make public transport accessible and cheaper for the City’s public transport users.

“We have a long history of public transport service in the City which can explain why some of our fleet needs to be replaced with new buses,” she said.

The Head of Department Landela Mahlati said 10 of the buses have been leased to the Brakpan Bus Company and 11 will be for Ekurhuleni Bus Company, which operates in Boksburg and Germiston.

She said, “Our plan is to gradually replace old buses with a new fleet for an improved and reliable public transport service.
