Woman robbed by gun-toting ‘security guard’

He fled with her cellphone and R5 000 in cash.

A woman was robbed of her cellphone and cash on Wednesday by a man who claimed to be a security guard.

The victim had stopped at a local bank along Voortrekker Road around 4pm to make a deposit.

As she was parking her car, she was confronted by a man who demanded money.

He told her he was a security guard and climbed into her vehicle.

The man pointed a gun at the victim and instructed her to drive.

While travelling along Main Reef Road towards Benoni, the man ordered the victim to stop.

He fled with her cellphone and R5 000 in cash.

A case of armed robbery is under investigation by Brakpan police.
