Gunmen rob petrol station of cash and cigarettes

The men gained access to the office and managed to open the safe.

A case of business robbery is under investigation by Brakpan police after a petrol station in Brenthurst was robbed by six gunmen on Wednesday morning, last week.

According to information received from the local SAPS, six balaclava-clad men travelling in a black Ford Focus arrived at the petrol station just after 5am.

One robber armed with a pistol forced two petrol attendants into a Toyota Quantum, which drove off, while another man armed with a rifle stood guard at the entrance to the shop on the premises.

Four gunmen entered the shop where they threatened the cashier and a customer.

One of the men jumped over the counter and tried to force open the gate to the office.

After some assistance from an accomplice, the men gained access to the office and managed to open the safe.

A large sum of cash was taken

The robbers also fled with cigarettes, the CCTV hard drive, as well as the customer’s cellphone, cash and bank cards.
