Man nabbed for selling fake concert tickets

The man was detained on a charge of fraud.

A 35-year-old man was arrested by the Brakpan Crime Prevention Unit on Saturday after he was found in possession of fake tickets to an event at Carnival City.

The man, who was apprehended by security guards at the venue, was selling the tickets on the day of the event.

Police were called to the scene and found the man in possession of a plastic bag full of tickets.

“He alleged he sells tickets at all the events on the East Rand and was therefore taken in for questioning,” said Capt Pearl van Staad, spokesperson for the Brakpan SAPS.

“He further claimed the tickets are printed in Johannesburg.”

Van Staad told the Herald the man was selling the tickets at R100 each, while the value printed on each ticket was R350 (VIP access).

The man was detained on a charge of fraud and the tickets and two cellphones in his possession were confiscated.
