A plum job: EMPD arrests two for drugs at fruit shop

One of the men is a repeat offender.

A tip-off about suspected drug dealers resulted in the arrest of two men found in possession of khat and dagga at a fruit shop along Wenden Avenue.

Members from the EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit made the arrests around midday on Sunday.

The men were arrested on Sunday.

One man was found in possession of dagga and the other with khat with an overall street value of R1 000.

Cash amounting to R160 was also confiscated.

According to EMPD spokesperson Chief Supt Wilfred Kgasago, one of the men was convicted of dealing in narcotics in May and evaded jail time after paying a fine of R1 500.

“The arrestees, aged 31 and 38, and both foreign nationals, were charged at the Brakpan Police Station for possession and dealing in narcotics,” added Kgasago.
