Concerned about the future of Brakpan

A sense of urgency is required.

Peter Bachtis from Benoni writes:

Since the 1950s, Brakpan was never blessed with councillors and mayors with foresight and vision.

The town fathers foolishly wanted the town to be a “garden” town, forcing heavy industries to establish themselves in Boksburg.

Today, the town wallows in poverty as the CBD in particular has been allowed to degenerate into a trash heap.

The situation requires a captain with a firm hand to change the fortunes of the town.

A well-known Brakpan resident and businessman has for years attempted to create an environment to spearhead the building of higher educational facilities, but has been blocked by short-sighted individuals, who are unable to see the bigger picture.

The reluctance brought about by political claptrap.

Conservatism and a reluctance to embrace the demographic changes should be set aside, giving way to a great opportunity for the “dead” town in order to change its fortunes.

A town which is able to house universities, medical universities and technical higher institutions will bring a sigh of economic relief to this crippled town.

The minister of education has a duty to firstly create additional educational facilities with its resultant logistical spin-offs.

A sense of urgency is required.
