Sweet shop owner finds himself in sticky situation

Man faces charges of possession and dealing in dagga.

A 26-year-old Nigerian national was arrested in Brakpan by the EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit after dagga with an estimated street value of R3 850 was found on the premises of his business.

The man runs a sweets and fruit shop along Wenden Avenue.

According to EMPD spokesperson Chief Supt Wilfred Kgasago, the man was nabbed around 11am on Saturday when it became obvious he was peddling dagga from the sweets and fruit counter.

“The EMPD Drug Enforcement Unit arrested the shop owner when 57 ziplock bags of dagga and one plastic bag laden with loose dagga weighing 200g were uncovered at the shop,” he said.

The man was detained at the Brakpan Police Station on charges of possession and dealing in dagga.
