Drivers “late for work” arrested for speeding
Face charges of reckless and negligent driving.
The EMPD High Speed Unit arrested four motorists in Brakpan on Friday for speeding.
The speedsters, who all claimed to be late for work, were caught along Springs Road, near Farquharson Street, between 5am and 6.30am.
This stretch of the road is a 70km/h zone.
The male motorists, aged between 29 and 34 years old, registered speeds of 126km/h, 124km/h, 124km/h and 106km/h.
“The drivers were locked up at Brakpan Police Station on charges of reckless and negligent driving, but later released on a warning,” said EMPD spokesperson Chief Supt Wilfred Kgasago.
They were expected to appear in the Brakpan Magistrate’s Court soon.
