The following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the past 24 hours (October 30 to 31):

Hijacking:

• The driver of a silver Mercedes-Benz was hijacked along Elsburg Road (R554) near Carnival City last night (Tuesday).

The victim pulled over at about 6.30pm to drop off a passenger when a gunman confronted him.

He was forced out of his car and told to get into a vehicle with two occupants.

The gunman sped off in the Mercedes and the victim was told to lie down in the back seat of the hijackers’ car.

He was robbed of his cellphone and later dropped off at an unknown location.

•The driver of a white Audi A4 was robbed of his vehicle along the N17 highway in Brakpan last night by men posing as police officers.

The victim was instructed to pull over at around 8.30pm by the occupants of a white BMW with blue lights.

Once stopped, he was forced into the back seat of his vehicle at gunpoint.

One of the hijackers then climbed into the Audi and drove off with the victim.

The vehicle came to a stop a short while later and the victim was taken out of the car and bundled into the boot.

He was then driven to an unspecified location where he was robbed of his cellphone and let go.

Burglary:

• Prince George Avenue, Brenthurst (business).

The break-in took place on Monday.

Stolen: Gardening equipment.

• Wenden Avenue (vacant house).

The burglary was discovered on Tuesday.

Stolen: Basin taps.

Theft of motor vehicle:

• On Friday, a white Scorpion trailer was stolen from an address along Prince George Avenue in Brenthurst.

Attempted theft of motor vehicle:

• A Toyota Etios parked at the corner of Paul Kruger Avenue and Reitz Street in Dalview was broken into on Saturday.

The vehicle’s ignition system was tampered with and damaged.
