A joint law enforcement operation held on Friday resulted in the arrest of two men in Tsakane.
Operation Buya Mthetho (Bring back the law) was carried out during the early morning hours by the EMPD Public Order Policing Task Team and SAPS Eastern Region Cluster and Ekurhuleni Region CIT teams.
According to EMPD spokesperson Chief Supt Wilfred Kgasago, one man was nabbed for possession of a stolen firearm and the other for possession of narcotics.
“A Vector 9mm pistol loaded with nine live rounds stolen from a police officer in February this year in Tsakane, was recovered from a man in his 30s at a house in Magagula Street in Tsakane Extension 12B,” said Kgasago.
A second man – also in his 30s – was arrested in Tsakane Extension Six for possession of 87 mandrax tablets and a plastic bag full of dagga, both estimated to be worth over R8 000.
The men were detained at the Tsakane Police Station and are expected to appear in the Tsakane Magistrate’s Court today (Monday).
