Drifters, start your engines
Drift fans will be delighted to know that a brand new season of drifting kicks off at the Rock Raceway venue in Brakpan on February 10.
The first round of the South African Drift Championship will be action-packed and full of sideways antics from local drifters out to dazzle the crowd as they take up the gauntlet set out by the scoring critics in the judges’ box.
All eyes will be track-side as the drifters purposefully lose control of their chariots and show that they can skilfully regain control as they slide their tyre-screamers around the circuit, sending up plumes of rubber smoke to the delight of the adrenaline-seekers sitting in the stands.

The judges’ layout will put the drifters’ skills to the test as they chase after victory.
Fans are encouraged to fill the stands in numbers, and to bring along banners depicting their support for their heroes.
Gates open at 10am with practice sessions for drifters, while qualifying and event proceedings proper will commence at 4pm.
