Brakpan police station almost ready

It is hoped the revamp will assist in improving the working conditions for officers and better cater to residents in need of police services.

Brakpan Police Station management is hoping to reveal the station’s new and improved Client Service Centre to the public within the next few weeks.

Visitors to the station over the past month have been surprised to find crime scene tape sealed across the entrance to the centre or charge office as it is known, thinking a crime has taken place right under the nose of the SAPS.

This is not the case, however, and the tape has been put up to restrict the public’s access to the building.

Police services have still been available to residents at a temporary office on the station’s premises.

The Herald was treated to a sneak peak of the upgrade on Tuesday morning and can report that residents will be impressed.

Not only has the centre received a bright, fresh lick of paint and new flooring, but it also has new furniture and fixtures.

It has a modern look and feel and is awaiting a few finishing touches before its doors officially open.

The crime office, located in the same building and where fingerprinting and other similar services are carried out, is next in line for a revamp.

There are also plans to convert an ablution facility into a kitchen.

It is hoped the revamp will assist in improving the working conditions for officers and better cater to residents in need of police services.
