Rugby players to reunite at Bosman

Springbok players who played for the union will also be in attendance.

A monumental and massive rugby event will take place at Bosman Stadium on Saturday, May 20 to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Valke Rugby Union (former Eastern Transvaal Rugby Union), which was initially founded by the clubs of Benoni, Brakpan, Springs and Nigel, in 1947.

Reunions are also set to take place for all players who have represented the Valke/Eastern Transvaal over the decades, as well as former and current Benoni, Brakpan, Springs and Nigel players and referees.

Springbok players who played for the union will also be in attendance.

An exciting SuperSport Rugby Challenge clash between the Valke and the Pumas will also be played at the Bosman Stadium, at 3pm.

Fixtures for the day are:

• A-Field: 11.15am: u-17 development match between Polong and KwaThema, Noon: Brakpan u-21 vs Springs u-21, 3pm: Valke vs Pumas (Supersport Rugby Challenge), 5pm: Brakpan first XV vs Springs first XV (Peregrine League), 7pm: Benoni first XV vs Nigel first XV (Merlin League).

• B-Field: 2.45pm: Benoni second XV vs Nigel second XV, 4pm: East Rand Police first team vs Vanderbijlpark first team, 5.30pm: Brakpan Lilywhites (second XV) vs Springs second XV (Kestrel League).
