Water restrictions have been lifted in Ekurhuleni.
This was confirmed during a council meeting held on Thursday evening, last week, and follows the gazette by the National Department of Water and Sanitation to lift water restrictions in Gauteng, after improved water levels at the Vaal Dam.
The City of Ekurhuleni has, however, urged residents to continue using water sparingly.
“Water restrictions have been lifted, but we urge residents and business to conserve water by always avoiding daytime irrigation between 7am and 5pm every day,” said metro spokesperson Themba Gadebe.
“When we water during the day, 40 per cent of water evaporates due to sunlight.”
The lifting of the water restrictions brings to an end the water restrictions punitive tariffs.
