Siyaqhuba Friday highlights Brakpan service delivery issues

Also paid a visit to areas in the CBD plagued by crime.

Brakpan areas in need of urgent service delivery attention were visited by Ekurhuleni Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) For Sports, Recreation, Arts and Culture, Clr Dora Mlambo, this morning (Friday).

The visit was part of Siyaqhuba Friday – a programme introduced by Ekurhuleni mayor Clr Mzwandile Masina that sees the administration visiting communities to address service delivery concerns.

Mlambo and other officials from the metro, including Brakpan ward councillors, stopped at several places in Brakpan where service delivery concerns have been raised.

This included the Brakpan Dam, Plastic City and the Brakpan Taxi Rank.

Stops were also made along Bertram Avenue, in Brakpan North, where an open piece of land is overgrown with grass; along Location Road, where shacks have been erected in the veld adjacent to where the squatters were recently removed; and along Voortrekker Road, where bags of rubbish and other refuse has not been collected.

The throng of metro officials also paid a visit to areas in the CBD plagued by crime and where the sale of drugs and drug use is rife.

These properties were raided and searched by the EMPD Dog Unit.

The service delivery issues will be addressed.
