Bogus cops hijack truck loaded with liquor

The driver pulled over, thinking it was the police.

The driver of a truck transporting liquor worth thousands of Rand was hijacked by bogus policemen in Brakpan yesterday (Wednesday).

The driver was travelling along the R23 (Heidelberg Road) at around 2.15pm, when he noticed a white Volkswagen Polo behind him, flashing its blue lights.

According to information received from the Brakpan SAPS, the driver pulled over, thinking it was the police.

He stopped near the Viking Road intersection and the Polo stopped behind him.

The driver handed over his driver’s licence to the ‘policemen’, who claimed the licence was false.

They stated he would have to accompany them to the police station, where his licence could be verified.

The driver was then forced into the backseat of the Polo.

One of the occupants of the Polo climbed into the truck and drove off, with the Polo following.

The driver was dropped off in Zonkizize, Katlehong, near Germiston.
