Metro tackles hyacinth problem
Twenty-per cent of the surface of the dam is currently covered by the plant.
Employees of the City of Ekurhuleni were spotted this week spraying weed killer on hyacinth covering a large area of the Brakpan Dam.
It was reported in last week’s Herald that approximately 20 per cent of the surface of the dam is currently covered by the free-floating water plant, and the infestation is getting worse by the day.
