Members of the EMPD’s First Responder Unit arrested a man in Tsakane on Monday, last week, for being in possession of suspected stolen goods.
According to EMPD spokesperson Lieut-Col Wilfred Kgasago, the 23-year-old man’s nervous actions attracted the attention of law enforcers.
“Around 5pm officers on patrol along Xhosa Street realised that a man carrying a bag looked nervous upon seeing the police,” said Kgasago.
On searching the bag, the officers found a video camera, cassettes, a charger, a pocket-knife, door knobs and a crowbar.
“The suspect claimed that the camera belonged to his mother,” said Kgasago.
“Contact was made with the mother who denied she had ever owned a video camera.”
The man was taken into custody at the Tsakane Police Station and charged with possession of suspected stolen goods and possession of a house-breaking implement.
