Hijacker shoots at victim’s dog

The family's dog started barking at the hijacker, who then pulled out a gun.

According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the weekend:

• Friday – Tyres were stolen from several trucks parked at business premises along Fifth Road, Witpoort Estates.

Electric tools were stolen from a garage at a residence along Duncan Street, Brenthurst.

• Saturday – A company situated along Molecule Road, Vulcania, was burgled of generator batteries and electric cables.

A Dalpark resident was hijacked of his grey BMW M3 in the driveway of his Sheridan Street home.

The resident and his family had arrived home at about 10.30pm when three men travelling in a silver Mercedes Benz stopped behind them.

One of the occupants of the Mercedes alighted the vehicle and stood in front of the gate.

The family’s dog started barking at the man, who pulled out a gun and fired shots at the animal.

He then pointed the weapon at the resident.

The resident climbed out of his car and the hijacker demanded his jewellery.

The hijacker fled in the BMW, taking the resident’s wedding ring, cellphone and other valuables.

Police did not disclose whether the dog was injured.

A man was robbed of cash by three males travelling in a white Volkswagen Fox.

The man and two friends were walking along Station Road at about 11pm, when the car pulled up alongside them.

One of the occupants got out of the vehicle and confronted the trio, who fled in different directions.

The robber then pulled out a gun and threatened to shoot the victim if he didn’t stop running.

The victim was robbed of his wallet, containing R1 500 in cash.

The friends later saw the vehicle parked at a local tavern and reported the matter to police.

The three suspects were arrested.

• Sunday – A break-in was reported at a fast food restaurant along Voortrekker Road.

Computers from the office were stolen, as well as a substantial amount of cash from the safe.
