The members, WO Jan Roos, WO Sonja Roos, Const Jacques Vivier, Sgt Ockert Venter and reservist Const Zander Frits, were suspended from the SAPS on June 26 – a month after the team was disbanded.

The reason for their suspension has not been disclosed.

According to Brakpan Police Station commander, Brig Johannes Manyathela, the nature of the complaint cannot be revealed as the case is still under investigation.

“What can be said is that the departmental case has been finalised,” he said.

“They were found not guilty in the departmental hearing.”

Manyathela confirmed that the members will start official duties immediately and will currently be stationed in Brakpan.

Asked whether the task team will be reinstated, Manyathela told the Herald that a new task team is in place.

Following the team’s disbandment, the members were placed on relief duty.

“The members will resume their duties on their normal shifts on which they were placed,” Manyathela added.

The Herald has requested additional information regarding the new task team.
