Eagle-eyed domestic worker thwarts robbery

The man grabbed her by the neck and tried to cover her mouth.

A man armed with a toy gun attempted to rob a home in Leachville on Sunday morning.

The man gained entry into the house, which is situated along Kouga Street, at about 11am, but was seen inside the home on CCTV by the domestic worker.

The woman went to investigate and found the man in a bedroom.

The man grabbed her by the neck and tried to cover her mouth with his hand, but she managed to pull away from him and scream for help.

This alerted the homeowner, who was in his bedroom, and he immediately pressed the panic button notifying his security company.

The intruder fled with a laptop.

A toy gun was found in the house and a black bag containing two bottles of perfume and a red and white glove was found outside.

In a separate incident on Friday, last week, three armed men robbed a Dalpark man in his Moepel Street home.

The resident heard a noise at his front gate at about 10am and saw a blue Nissan Almera parked outside.

He went to investigate and was confronted by the trio, each of whom was armed with a weapon – a firearm, a crowbar and a knife.

The man armed with a gun pointed it at the resident and demanded money.

The resident took the robbers inside the house, where they helped themselves to cash from a wardrobe in the man’s bedroom.

The robbers also took a tablet, a television set and the resident’s wedding ring.
