The Herald has received comment from the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality regarding a letter that featured in the July 29 edition, titled ‘Council has no respect’, in which the letter writer bemoaned the poor state of the Brakpan Cemetery.
According to metro spokesperson Themba Gadebe, the City of Ekurhuleni has appointed a contractor to address the challenges at the cemetery.
The contractor commenced with maintenance work on Wednesday, August 10.
“The maintenance will continue once the contractor has assisted with the accumulated maintenance work,” he said.
