Denneoord murder: accused granted bail

As part of their bail conditions, the women have to report to the Brakpan Police Station twice a week.

The two women accused of the murder of a Dennoord man (58) were granted bail in the Brakpan Magistrate’s Court yesterday (Wednesday).

The pair, aged 29 and 55, were granted bail of R10 000 and R5 000 respectively.

Magistrate BP Maredi presided.

The younger woman has been charged with murder, defeating the ends of justice and possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

The other woman is charged with being an accomplice to murder and defeating the ends of justice.

The case was postponed to June 30 for further investigation.

As part of their bail conditions, the women have to report to the Brakpan Police Station every Monday and Friday.

The man was fatally shot in the head on the evening of Monday, April 11, at his home along Field Street.

The women, who may not be named until they have pleaded in court, were arrested on April 16.
