WIN SHOPPING VOUCHERS – Makro Carnival opening day promises to be big

Four lucky Herald readers can each win a R500 Makro voucher by entering this easy competition.

Local shoppers who are eagerly anticipating the opening of the new Makro Carnival store don’t have much longer to wait.

The store will open for trading next week – Wednesday, April 20.

Shoppers can expect big opening deals, loads of spot prizes and cool giveaways.

Customers attending the opening will be entertained by talented local musicians Lloyd Cele and Heinz Winkler.

They will also rub shoulders with lead actors from the romantic adventure film, Vir Altyd, who will be in attendance.

The addition of this environmentally friendly store in the area has had a positive effect on job creation in the community.

The new store has a total full-time staff complement of 387, with residents of the local community accounting for 80 per cent of the total.

As part of Makro’s community engagement efforts, the store, along with CSI partner Hope Worldwide, has identified three Early Childhood Development centres in the Wattville area, which will each receive R20 000 worth of products and assistance from Makro Carnival.

Makro Carnival is over 22 000m2 in size, with 13 500m2 of trading space, making it the biggest Makro store to date.

The large size of the store implies larger merchandising space, making a range of 70 000 quality branded products available to all its customers across the commercial, resell and retail segments.

The store boasts 70 till points in total, which will optimise customers’ shopping experience.

Another benefit of the bigger size of Makro Carnival is that it has a larger butchery space, which has been optimised to better cater to all customer segments.

To shop for opening deals, customers will need a Makro card.

Makro will not be selling or providing any food on the day, but there will be various independent vendors outside the store who will have food on sale.

Water sachets will be provided to keep shoppers hydrated.

Wear sunscreen, comfortable shoes and a hat for protection from the sun.

There will be a designated parking area close to the store.

Trading begins at 7am and gates will close at 6pm.

Three lucky shoppers will each win a R5 000 Makro gift card, simply for shopping at Makro Carnival during the opening week, between April 20 and 27.
