Update: Man wanted by Interpol for rape and human trafficking arrested in Brakpan

Sought by Interpol for his involvement in a child trafficking sex ring.

Updated March 31: The man appeared in the Brakpan Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday and the case was postponed to Wednesday, April 6.

He was remanded in custody and is being held at the Boksburg Prison.

March 30 – A 45-year-old Brakpan man, wanted by Interpol for rape and human trafficking, was arrested by members of the Brakpan Anti-Hijacking Task Team yesterday afternoon (Tuesday).

The man, who lives at an address along Gardiner Avenue, was sought by Interpol for his involvement in a child trafficking sex ring in Swakopmund, Namibia.

It is believed he procured young teenage girls with whom to have sex.

The events took place in 2012.

The man was also wanted on charges of assault, intimidation and malicious damage to property.

The woman who procured his victims was convicted of rape and trafficking children for sexual exploitation.

The man allegedly fled Namibia after her arrest.

According to Capt Joep Joubert, spokesperson for the Brakpan Police Station commander, the man will appear in court today.

“He will more than likely be extradited to Namibia,” added Joubert.
