University will boost local economy

This an ideal initiative for the poor and the struggling business owners of Brakpan.

Estelle Alexander, from the Brakpan University Initiative, writes:

In a community, education becomes the cornerstone of all advancements.

The University Initiative seeks not to have an individualistic approach to the needs of the community, but to have an approach to tackle socio-economic issues in a manner that’s beneficial to immediate needs – creating jobs for the homeless people who Mrs Fourie (Brakpan Herald, March 4, ‘We don’t need a university‘) has alluded to and also to boost the economy of Brakpan.

This will be caused by the traffic created by the students.

Not only that, Brakpan, just like any other developmental projects happening in other towns, will aid the plans of the mayor for an aerotropolis and we intend on doing this through education or establishing a university that will cater for faculties that will revitalise the economy and retention of skilled people in Ekurhuleni.

The intention of the Brakpan University Initiative is not to build a university, but to use the already existing infrastructure to house the administration of the university.

Residents who wish to house students and the owners of flats will benefit tremendously, needing more employees, making this an ideal initiative for the poor and the struggling business owners of Brakpan, as well as other industries, such as the taxi industry (transport).
