Justice on the way for Jasmin-Lee

The man accused of raping, murdering and then stuffing four-year-old Jasmin-Lee Pretorius’s body under a bed, while police and the community searched for her, will stand trial in the Pretoria High Court from November 9 to 13.

The accused was admitted to Weskoppies for mental observation in March, this year.

According to information on the Jasmin-Lee Pretorius Facebook page, it has been decided that there will no longer be High Court sittings in Delmas.

It is also stated that a full panel of psychiatrists found that the accused was fit to stand trial.

Capt Joep Joubert, spokesperson for the Brakpan SAPS, confirmed that the case has been moved to the Pretoria High Court and that the accused will appear on November 9.

Jasmin-Lee’s body was found under a bed in the home of her father, Morné Pretorius, in Suenet Flats, on Saturday, December 28, 2013.

She had been reported missing earlier that day.

Jasmin, who lived with her mother, Sasha Lee Bam, in Kempton Park, was picked up by Morné the previous day, to spend the weekend with him.

Jasmin’s uncle was arrested and charged with her murder.
