Round Table’s R1 project a success

The thanked those who supported the initiative.

Round Table Boksburg 17’s R1 project at El Ridge Corner on July 6 proved to be a success as they raised over R9 000.

Members from the Table stood in front of Checkers, handing out pamphlets each with a R1 taped to it. The coin was the Table’s contribution towards a non-perishable food item and their way of encouraging the public to support the initiative.

The primary aim of the R1 project was to collect and distribute essential canned or non-perishable goods for families facing food shortages.

This initiative was also in support of the Round Table Winter Knights Project, where tablers collect items such as beanies, scarves, blankets and non-perishable foods for the needy.

Spokesperson Darren Fox described the project as a success.

“This demonstrates the community’s commitment to supporting one another. The event not only provided immediate relief but also fostered a spirit of solidarity and care within the community.

“We thank all donors who contributed to the success of the project. Your generosity has made and will continue to make a tangible difference in the lives of those in need.”

Fox also extended his gratitude to the management of the shopping centre and the on-duty Checkers manager, Pemla Kere.

The club members packed the collected donations in food parcels to make distribution easier and soon afterwards distributed food parcels to several families in need around Boksburg.

Donations for the local Table can be dropped off at the Round Table Clubhouse at 32 Lancaster Road.
