TV weekly must watch

We’ve rounded up three great shows you should keep an eye out for this week. Start with a romantic comedy-drama about a man that has had his life turned upside down after his partner walks out on him.

Then watch a brilliant drama based on the true story of the 1963 train robbery. Or follow two men in different situations in the UK’s prison system.

Uncoupled portrays Michael, a married Manhattanite who thought his life was perfect until his husband of 17 years blindsides him by walking out the door. Overnight, Michael must confront two nightmares — losing the one he thought was his soulmate and suddenly finding himself a single gay man in his mid-40s in New York City. Now showing on Netflix.

Sixty years ago, on 8 August 1963, Britain awoke to the news of the biggest and most audacious robbery in the country’s history. The hijacking of a train 55km from central London left the country stunned and avid for details on who did it, and just how they managed to pull it off. The Great Train Robbery is a two-part character-driven period drama starting on August 4 on BritBox.

A visceral, emotional and high-stakes portrayal of life in a British prison – Mark Cobden is consumed by guilt after accidentally killing an innocent man. Accepting his four-year sentence and being separated from his family, he meets Eric McNally, a caring prison officer doing his best to protect those in his charge. However, when one of the most dangerous inmates identifies his weakness, Eric faces an impossible choice – between his principles and his family. A story of guilt and forgiveness, punishment and penitence, both Eric and Mark are trapped by their pasts and unsure of their futures. Binge Time now on Showmax.
