Authorities, locals NGOs and public figures wish all residents of Boksburg a Merry Christmas and a prosperous and peaceful New Year.

“It’s been a long journey since the year started. We have been going through a rough ride in terms of crime and Covid-19. Thanks to God, we did not have any casualties.
“But regardless of all these, we still have to serve our community. Thanks to the CPF for giving support throughout the year. We are in a very busy festive season and people have to enjoy it responsibly.

“This is a period whereby domestic and gender-based violence cases are increasing because of alcohol. We are still on the adjusted alert level one and liquor outlets are reminded to adhere to all the rules, including the stipulated operating hours. I want to wish every resident of Boksburg a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year! God bless.”

“During this time of the year, people travel using different modes of transport, some are expecting visitors and others are visiting different places. As the EMPD, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.”
The police are also urging residents to heed the following advice to stay safe this festive season:

• Make sure that your vehicle is roadworthy
• Visit any EMPD precinct during weekdays to check if you do have any outstanding traffic fines
• Ensure that your card driver’s licence is valid
• It is the responsibility of a buckled-up driver to ensure that passengers are also using safety belts when the vehicle is moving
• Adhere to the rules of the road
• Keep a safe following distance
• Do not drink and drive
• For long-distance drivers, ensure that you rest every two-hour intervals
• As a driver, avoid overloading a vehicle (either with goods, chemicals or passengers)
• Avoid picking up hitch-hikers alongside roadways
• House owners planning a long trip must arrange for relatives or friends to guard over the house during their absence.
