Cash Of Hearts talks music

Dawn Park rapper, singer, producer and musical director Thabo Maputswe Motloung, also known as Cash Of Hearts, described himself as a musical genius with a whole lot more to prove.

Cash had a passion for music since primary school and began his professional career in about 2012 when he and a childhood friend conceptualised a project called First Impression.

“I had no choice because for me it was a gift, and everything I’ve ever tried outside of music never really worked out. This is where I feel at home – the need to change my life through song and touch someone else’s life,” said the talented musician. Cash explained he pens his own songs.

“I get my inspiration from greats like Muhammad Ali, Michael Jackson, Drake, Rick Flair, Cristiano Ronaldo, Israel Adesanya and my dad. I too want to reach such heights and be the greatest in what I do. He fed me a plethora of music growing up. I also gather my inspiration from everyday life.”

The musician said he had the honour of working with artists like Nasrene Khan, Zac Nkosi, Eddington Kubheka (Sick-E, Srch-Huey, Swageei) and Sama-nominated producer/artist Sloan Solomons (Sloani).

“Other iconic moments in my career are shooting a documentary for a Jack Daniel’s promo, releasing my first album under a major independent record label and performing alongside Zakwe, Deepa Trybz and Sol Phenduka at festivals.

“My latest single, Go Again Tonight, is number 23 on Heart FM’s CTM Chart and the song is played on Heart FM UK’s 2021 playlist on Spotify. There are 50 000 streams clocked in a month for the single.

“I’ve also started my own production company called Oct 21 Sound, which will take care of my productions, starting with the release of my brand-new single Hennessy, dropping on October 21 on all major digital platforms. This is part of my sophomore album Debut, scheduled for release in 2022.”
