Toyota’s hotly anticipated Corolla Cross to go on sale at the start of November 2021

It will be available in three grades - Xi (entry level), Xs (mid-tier) and Xr (flagship).

The audio system has been upgraded and the Cross is fitted with a touchscreen offering a reverse camera, and Apple and Android functionality. There is also three USB ports.

Safety and security

All Corolla Cross models offer buyers a comprehensive safety and security package inclusive of airbags (driver, passenger, side and driver-knee (on Xi & Xs) while the Xr adds curtain airbags.

Safety features include VSC, ABS, EBD and Hill Assist Control (HAC) – Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) on the Xr. The latter offer semi-autonomous driving aids and enhanced safety-system functionality. The standout elements here are Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM), Lane Trace Assist (LTA) and a Pre-Collision System (PCS).

Model Line-up and Pricing

The Corolla Cross will feature a two engine strategy: a 1.8-litre petrol engine (103kW / 172Nm) and ultra-fuel efficient 1.8-litre Hybrid (90kW total system output).

Pricing starts at R349 900 and includes a six-services/90 000km service plan. Service intervals are pegged at 12-months/15 000km. The
