Laid-back tips for tired moms

Are you a mom who is feeling worn-out, exhausted, and running on empty? Follow these tips to help you recharge your batteries.

Being a mom can be hard work. Exhaustion is a common complaint of being a parent, and it’s easy to get worn down.

These tips will help you get your oomph back the next time you feel like your batteries are running on empty:

Take care of yourself

Forget about everything that isn’t necessary or urgent and only focus on what’s most important. This applies to running a successful business or a successful household. Take care of yourself so you can take better care of your children. If you are less worn out and frazzled, you’ll have so much more to give and it won’t feel like you’re constantly dropping all the balls you’re trying to keep in the air.

Stop trying to be supermom

You won’t get an increase, and your kids don’t care whether you’ve spent three hours setting up the perfect Pinterest craft activity for them. They’ll be happy with some egg boxes and paintbrushes – as long as they get to have fun with you.

Spend time outdoors

One of the biggest secrets to changing your mood is changing your environment. If you’re having one of those days where you just want to stay in your pyjamas and veg on the couch, you need to get out of the house and spend some time outdoors. Small children have way too much energy for hibernating, and they’ll soon be bouncing off the walls, driving you insane. Your kids will have fun and burn off some energy, and the fresh air will leave you feeling better.

Limit your time on social media

The brain loves novelty and new information, so social media can really suck us in. You log on just to check what’s new, but two hours later you’re still reading the latest news and other junk articles. Not only that but if you’re in a slump, hiding on the sofa, eating toast while watching your fifth episode of Grey’s Anatomy, you don’t need to see posts of other moms who spent the day setting up treasure hunts for their kids, cooking jam and baking novelty cakes for a birthday party.
