GALLERY: Elections postponed to 2021 during the AGM

Boksburg Child Welfare board took the opportunity to celebrate the volunteers and donors who have been with the organisation for over five years.

Boksburg Child Welfare postponed the elections for new board members during its AGM on December 5 at the centre in Vosloorus because some of the nominated individuals were not present at the meeting.

The director of the welfare, Vanessa Naidoo-Pillay, said the current board will reconvene in February for a board meeting to verify current membership of all members of the society and screen all new membership applications which came through at the AGM.

She said: “Once this process is complete, a special meeting will be called for all members of the society. The secretary will send out a notification 10 days prior to the meeting, with the time, date and venue. Only screened paid-up members can vote for the new board.”

There are six members serving on the board

Chairperson of the welfare Dorry Naidoo said: “The organisation makes an appeal to the general public who have a vested interest in the social well-being of its vulnerable citizens in the community and who are willing to make a voluntary and sacrificial contribution whether in kind or cash with no gains or benefits of political or other.”

Naidoo presented the new set of laws amended in the Boksburg Child Welfare constitution to the public:

• Membership of the organisation will be limited to 50.
• Membership forms must be presented with an extensive CV, certified ID copy, proof of address and completed Form 29 or police clearance.
• Members must serve the organisation for two years, thereafter be elected to the board.
• All office bearers of the organisation shall be elected for a period of three years.
