Local hip hop artist strives to produce timeless music

“I am grateful for all the love I receive from my fans. It is through the purchasing of my music that as an an independent artist I am able to fund my next music endeavours."

Venturing into the culture of hip hop from an early age of 12, Dean Moyo, famously known as Thomas Hazey, found his passion for storytelling through music.

The local artist from Boksburg East says his cousin, Daev Martin, introduced him to hip hop.

“It all began as a hobby during school holidays up until we started releasing music online.

“Our music began to sweep through the hearts of my friends and the public who loved our music. Not looking back, I was then convinced that I had talent for storytelling,” he says.

Thomas says what sets him apart from other artists is that he is a narrator of social ills that happens in society. He says through his music, he empowers others.

“I pride myself in being an artist whose music becomes timeless, and whose music is relatable to people, both young and old,” says Thomas.

Some of his selling songs include 4Play produced by Ty-Dilla, Lost produced by xSipping, Born-Free(ish) with Seez, Previews with Daddy Longstem, Conversations with God, Perfect (mixtape) produced by Swish and Free produced by xSipping.
