Peters’ late strike helps Boksburg sink Old Bens

The visitors had won the recent reverse fixture between the two sides

A late goal by forward Rudean Peters helped the Boksburg Football Club’s u-17s beat Old Bens at Prince George Park in their Super League clash on June 10.

Peters came off the bench in the second stanza before completing the come-from-behind victory for his side after Old Bens had taken the lead towards the end of the opening half.

Half-time score was 1-1.

It looked like Old Bens would enjoy the victory again following Bens’ opening goal from a dead ball situation.

But instead, the goal seemed to have helped the hosts beat their timidity in the third quarter. After multiple fluffed opportunities, mostly because of poor decision making behind a lot of attractive build-ups, the Junior Blues had a free-kick of their own on the corner edge of Bens’ danger box.

It was a moment made for dead ball specialist Karabo Morobo.

It was a good opportunity to go into the half-time break on level terms and shift the momentum of the game to his side’s favour and Morobo made no mistake as he powered a curled shot past the visitors’ goal minder to make in the 44th minute. – @SabeloBoksburg
