IN PRINT TODAY: A Boksburg resident’s learner’s licence incorrectly stated he has an artificial limb
It cost Wayne Clark (47), of Ravenswood, over R500, two days off work and a visit to a "very dodgy" doctor for a medical certificate to get restrictions for an artificial limb and contact lenses removed before he could get a temporary driver's licence.
In fact, Clark’s learner’s licence noted three restrictions – contact lenses, artificial limb and glasses. He does need glasses when driving, so the Etwatwa Licensing Department at least got one right.
Clark explained that booking the driver’s licence and getting through the actual test was the easy part, as it was after he had passed the driving test with flying colours that the artificial limb came into the story.
“I was gobsmacked to have an official tell me they couldn’t issue me a temporary licence as my learner’s licence stated I had an artificial limb.”
