Local Gospel artist Mama Africa to launch first DVD
Boksburg North artist Linley Macheso-Phiri, known as Mama Africa, will soon be launching her first gospel DVD, Ndidalira Inu Yesu (I rely/depend on you, Jesus).
Mama Africa, who is originally from Malawi, has been singing since a young age.
Her Sunday school teacher always asked her to sing a song.
“God put something in me and that is to minister His word through music,” said Mama Africa.
She also said it was a calling from God to compose a DVD of her CD.
The songs she sings on the DVD are the same as on the CD and include genres like rumba, kwaito and traditional.
Linley Macheso-Phiri, known as Mama Africa, from Boksburg North, will go on tour to launch her first gospel DVD, “Ndidalira Inu Yesu” (I rely/depend on you, Jesus).“People motivated me to make the DVD because my songs are so encouraging,” said Mama Africa.
Mama Africa writes and composes all the songs herself and draws inspiration from her pastor, husband, family and friends.
She would like to touch many lives through her music.
“My prayer is that people should be transformed through music.”
Tour dates for the DVD launch are:
- August 13, at Katlehong Anglican Church Hall.
- August 20, at Word of Life Christian Centre, Boksburg.
- September 10, at Living Waters Church, Johannesburg.
All shows start at noon and tickets will be available at the door.
The DVD will be available from the first day of the launch and will also be available for download from www.malawi-music.com
“By the grace of God I’d like to go as far as the whole of Malawi, Cape Town and Durban with the tour,” said Mama Africa.
