No bail for Boksburg man implicated in child pornography

The request was granted by Judge Moosa, who stressed that no further postponements will be tolerated in the case.

Miranda Friedman from Women and Men Against Child Abuse (WMACA) said two witnesses were present at the court on Monday, ready to testify against the accused.

Also present at the court was Commander Heila Neimand, Provincial Commander in Gauteng of the Serial Electronic Crime Investigation Team.

Friedman said the accused preyed on single mothers with children.

“He was arrested after distributing sexually exploitative images of children, some as young as four. The accused attempted to distribute these images internationally.

“He was apprehended after an alert was raised by the United States Homeland Security Unit,” said Friedman.

“His case was moved from the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court to the South Gauteng High Court due to the large number of rape charges he faces.

Friedman said that although WMACA were anticipating a plea and hopefully a sentence on Monday, they are still pleased the postponement was only one day.

“We are also extremely pleased that Judge Moosa stressed to the defence and the accused that no more postponements will be granted. WMACA would like to reiterate that each image sexually depicting a child is a crime scene.”

The 39-year-old Atlasville resident was arrested on September 30 last year and remains in custody as bail was denied.
