Who will be crowned Rocksburger of the Year? Vote now for your candidate!
In celebration of RocoMamas Boksburg’s first birthday, in October, the branch challenged its customers to ''smash'' a Rocksburger and small fries in less than six minutes.
The RocoMamas Rocksburger comprises four 150g smashburger patties, four layers of cheddar cheese and four layers of bacon.
Around 250 people accepted the Rocksburger challenge.
Participants who finished the entire meal (Rocksburger and small fries) within six minutes received their meal for free.
No leftovers or vegetables, cheese, meat or bread roll were allowed to remain on the plate; only onion rings may have been removed.
Participants who finished the entire meal within nine minutes received a complimentary RocoMamas Rocksburg cap.
Now, this is where the fun comes in.
RocoMamas Boksburg invited the participants who finished the Rocksburger and small fries in the fastest time, back to the restaurant for a big eat-off.
On Wednesday, November 23, at 6.30pm for 7pm, eight guys will challenge each other to the title of Rocksburger of the Year.
RocoMamas Boksburg will crown the winner and he will get a plaque on the wall in the restaurant.
The title of Rocksburger of the Year will be attached to the winner’s name and reputation for all to admire.
Here are the eight guys and the strategy they will be following to beat their fellow contestants:
• Shaun le Grange – “It’s simple!!!!! Gonna SMASH IT!”
• Waldo Hurter – “Take a breath, look it in the eyes, and eat the monster!”
• Simon Roux – “Come hungry and work my way from the top down…worry about cleaning up after…”
• Gerhard du Plessis – “Eat clean, train mean.”
• Gerald van der Westhuizen – “My strategy is to go prepared this time. I will disassemble the meal strategically and start with the more difficult parts of the meal first.”
• Bruce Jamison – “My game plan will be to chew lots of gum and to work out for an appetite.”
• Luke Gericke – “My strategy is putting my head down not worrying about anything else, and concentrate on smashing that burger in my face!!”
• Gerhard van Niekerk – “Break it up, try not to take too big of a bite and eat as much as I can, as fast as I can…”

The names of the persons who voted correctly will be entered into a lucky draw.
Voting is now open and closes on Wednesday, November 23, at 3pm.
