Separating eggs
The old fashioned way:
Tap the egg on a flat surface, such as the countertop, to crack open its shell. Open up the egg over a bowl, allowing the yolk to rest in one of the open halves. Carefully pour the yolk into the other half of the shell, letting the white drip into the bowl.
Another old fashioned way, but many great chefs use it
