Ekurhuleni set to jazz up the festive season

Jazz is a beautifully diverse genre and like almost all forms of music, it bridges the gap between rich and poor, race and religion.

Hence the City of Ekurhuleni, in partnership with Music Craft Art, presents the most eclectic mix of local and international jazz music set to mesmerize enthusiasts this festive season with the Music Xchange on December 19 at Carnival City in Brakpan.

Before Saturday though, local audiences will be treated to the sounds of the Czech Republic’s jazz heavy weights, Najponk Trio at the Puisano Live Jazz Festival taking place at the Spruitview Multi-Purpose Park on December 16.

At the Music Xchange, Najponk Trio who will perform together with South African artists such as Feya Faku, Andile Yenana, Sydney Mnisi, African Jazz Masters and the Four Forty Jazz band.

The partnership between the City of Ekurhuleni and the Music Craft Art is set to revive the genre of jazz in the city, through the development of a local and international exchange programme.

“In an effort to elevate the arts and culture industry within Ekurhuleni, we will exhaust every avenue to see the industry flourish for the purpose of developing our artists until they are recognized internationally,” said Ekurhuleni spokesperson Themba Gadebe.
