C Sharp’s Uptown Funk Concert rocks

There was a feeling of expectancy and excitement when C Sharp Music Academy held its annual concert at the Barnyard Theatre Emperors Palace, on October 31.

Students finally had a chance to show off their artistic talent and they dressed up before wowing the crowd with some thrilling performances.

This was the academy’s 16th show and the theme for 2015 was “C Sharp Uptown Funk”.

Each student shone in their own right on The Barnyard stage and they performed like true Hollywood stars. The energy in the theatre was electrifying, with the audience singing along and cheering for their favourite songs.

C Sharp Music Academy is a singing school in Farrarmere, Benoni, for children of school-going age.

For the past five years the academy staged the show at the Boksburg Barnyard Theatre, before moving to Emperors, where two shows were held on Saturday, to accommodate the growing audience.

Before the big day, students also had the opportunity to visit a recording studio, where they had the experience of recording their songs onto an album.

“The aim with this concert is to give my students the opportunity to showcase what they learn over the years of attending C Sharp and to perform on a proper stage, with all the trimmings that the professionals enjoy – such as dancers, costumes, professional lighting, sound and DVD recording,” said Lizette de Klerk, from C Sharp Music Academy.

“The show went very well and the students, 99 per cent of whom are of school-going age, received wonderful compliments from the public.

“We enjoyed two sold-out shows on the day at the Barnyard Theatre; we rehearsed for countless hours for this production and I’m very grateful that it went so well.”

Every year the academy also invites a few children’s homes from all over the East Rand to attend the 10am show.
