Michael sends out Delafield challenge for EFC 32

Up-and-coming Cape Town MMA star Luke Michael has said he’s more than ready to answer Kwazulu-Natal’s Saxon Delafield’s recent slurs against him, when they finally meet in the cage.

Michael (19) was set to face Delafield on June 5, in Cape Town, but the fight was pulled at the last moment, on the advice of doctors, after a pre-fight medical check.

MRA and MRI scans revealed a potential risk to the young athlete if the fight had gone ahead, and the organisers were forced to put the bout on hold.

EFC Africa recently introduced pre-fight checks to help ensure the safety and long-term health of all the competitors, and the move has been widely welcomed by the athletes and others associated with the sport.

At the time, Michael said he was “bummed” not to be able to put on a show, after an intense training camp that meant he was confident for the meet.

However, he went on to say that he was grateful that EFC was on hand to look out for fighters by enforcing safety procedures like these.

Now back to his best, the rising star is keen to get into the EFC hexagon, to face the opponent who has slighted him in the press by calling him “average”, despite his phenomenal performances thus far.

Michael is hoping to square up to Delafield in the cage soon, and is now urging the EFC brass to reschedule the fight in just a few weeks’ time. He would like the bout to take place during EFC 32, at Carnival City, on August 7.

Michael said: “I will not disrespect him and his team, but Saxon, you can talk all you want; when we finally meet I will do all my talking when the cage door closes.

“I hope the EFC will make this fight happen as soon as possible, at EFC 32 – I am ready.” – @SabeloBoksburg
