Boksburg Bowling Club elects committee

The new committee members are aiming to improve and get more members for the club.

BA new committee of the Boksburg Bowling Club (BBC) was elected at the AGM held at the clubhouse on September 2.

It is made up of new and re-elected members.

The re-elected president, Ian Croasdale, presented a report during the AGM. He highlighted how the men’s first division team won their section along with other bowling competitions to be promoted to the premier league.

“Jorgensen attained a bronze medal in the EKB Ladies Open singles and she has been selected to play in the masters, which is currently being played.

“I would like to thank John Mellitchey who stepped in and assisted with the men’s competitions. A huge thank you must go to both Heath Waldick and Mellitchey for completing the competitions early,” said Croasdale, adding they were able to host a finals day on July 29, which was a success and was followed by a bring and braai.

“We replaced our dilapidated ice machine, which was already old when I started bowls more than 20 years ago,” he explained.

He added that Alan Elson, a member of BBC, with the assistance of Elize Pool’s staff, erected a palisade fence in front of the club.

“This reduced the break-ins. We also secured an employee’s room with a palisade fence. Cameras have also been installed and we would like to thank Stuart Nisbet for this.

“We bought a lawnmower trolley. Our previous vice-president, Tommy Kohl, resigned due to pressing issues, but we would like to thank him for his contribution,” said Croasdale.

He added several learners from the School of Transformation attended their coaching sessions at the club on Wednesdays and Kohle was at the forefront of the initiative.

“He is relocating to Cape Town and he will be missed. Thank you to all our members for the different roles they played in the team,” she stated.

He said they engaged in several activities this year, including charity drives. One of them raised R6 000 for the Boksburg SPCA.The committee/office bearers:
