Title race a Boksburg affair

There can only be one victor at the end of the league.

Local teams Boksburg FC U15 A and Blackball United A are competing to be the champs of the Eastern league.
The teams each have only four matches to play.

Both teams are top of the league, equal on points and goal difference. They both have 42 points and a goal difference of 45.

The Boksburg teams won their last two matches. Boksburg FC thrashed Rovers FC 4-1 in the previous game, with Blackball United beating Kagiso FC 4-1.

The coach of Blackball United, Muzi Masuku, said he was happy to see his team joust with a team like Boksburg FC for top honours.

“Boksburg FC has been around for decades, and we have been around for only six years. So it’s a milestone for us to compete with such a team for the first spot. We are a young team and still learning. It’s an honour for us to be in this position, and I honestly believe we are on the right path,” explained Masuku.

He said they always tried to achieve the goals they set for themselves as a team.

“Our goal was to add value and strong competition in the Eastern league, not just to be a number. To win the league will be a good achievement for us. We strive to win the league. Our primary strategy is to win all our remaining matches with the hope that Napoli FC and Boksburg FC will be disturbed by other teams.

“Our boys consistently work hard, and sometimes, when they lose a match, I find it very hard to have a team talk with them because, at the end of the match, I first see tears in their eyes.

“That shows they hate losing. But their spirit and commitment is on another level,” said Masuku.

The coach of Boksburg FC, Heinrich Loxton, said Blackball United was a competitive team and they both played similar styles.

“I’m glad we are competing with them for the first spot. With regards to our position in the league, as a coach, I feel very positive about it.

“Our boys have put in the work, dedication and extra effort outside of the pitch to get along. They formed a brotherhood outside of the field, which yielded good results for them on the pitch,” said Loxton.

He said their last four games would be difficult because they will compete in the league and play in the Eastern cup games.

“I can positively say our players are in a good state. We have had a one-on-one session with them to check how they feel. They are all feeling good,” explained the coach.
